As part of our shared hobby, my wife and I decided to visit Horseshoe Bend, a unique and world-famous spot. Located near the Grand Canyon, it stretches across three states: Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. Initially, I wasn’t too excited—it seemed like just another tourist attraction, and it was a five-hour drive from Phoenix, Arizona. After flying to Phoenix, we debated whether the long drive through the desert would be worth it. But in the end, we decided to go for it and set off toward the Grand Canyon.
When we arrived at the park, all I could see was the desert and cacti. We followed the trail signs along with a crowd of other visitors, walking toward what looked like a stone mountain. After just a few minutes, we reached the edge and… wow! The view was breathtaking. We were standing atop Horseshoe Bend, looking down at the Colorado River winding through the canyon. I hadn’t expected it to be this beautiful.
To explore further, we had to descend thousands of steps to reach the river for a kayaking adventure. It took around 30 to 40 minutes to get down, but the experience was absolutely worth the effort. Everyone around us, like us, could only say ‘wow.’ We paused, took it all in, and marveled at the sheer beauty of this incredible place.
